- Fontana's giant plaster sculpture, made of a female figure and two horses, dominated the Sala della Vittoria designed by Persico for the 1936 Milan Triennial. The female figure, inspired by the Nike of Samothrace, stood on a pedestal on which were carved the words of Mussolini's speech given after the conquest of Ethiopia, making the statue a celebration of this war success.
